Pain is almost always present when growth or change are nagging your soul. For leaders, pain comes in many forms: fear, burnout, dysfunction, doubt, boredom—the list is endless. And, more importantly, whatever you’re battling on the outside will impact you on the inside. Maybe you’re transitioning to a new phase in life and feeling disoriented and regretful. Perhaps you feel ill-equipped to handle the task in front of you. Or maybe you’re just tired of the same daily grind and tyranny of the urgent, wondering how you can break the pattern. If you can relate to these pains, then one thing is clear: You’re at the start of your journey toward reaching your whole measure.

The concept of a whole measure was introduced over two thousand years ago to a group of emerging leaders in the ancient Asian city of Ephesus. Reaching your whole measure is a journey of introspection, integration and, ultimately, fullness. Your whole measure is realized when all the parts work together—when abilities and talents are maximized, actions are aligned with vision and life is lived purposefully. Sometimes this journey is an individual one; other times, it’s for an entire team or organization. At all times, it’s necessary for growth and fulfillment.

JIM STANLEY

It was in his father’s hardware store that Jim Stanley first learned the principles that have informed his own personal and professional journey. As he’d sweep the dusty hardware floors, search for a hard-to- find bolt for a customer, or watch his dad interact with patrons who walked through the doors, Jim learned early on about responsibility, tenacity, and servanthood. He learned that to achieve optimum results, all parts had to function together. To get things right, hard work was required. And finally, that the greatest satisfaction most often comes when the focus is on others. These same principles guided his founding of Whole Measure Coaching. Through a personalized process, Jim helps leaders figure out how to get all parts working together again… work through the “stuck” spots… and understand the impact they aspire to have on others. With a high emotional and organizational IQ, Jim quickly assesses situations and differentiates among individual, interpersonal, and organizational challenges. He is gifted at asking the right questions, translating what’s not being said, and seeing what most others often don’t. This allows him to help leaders better understand themselves, the challenges they are facing, and the people they are leading.
